Building a diy shed

A small shed will not only create a large storage space for garden tool, outdoor furniture or other items you use in your backyard, but a real opportunity to add value and style to your property. We have a large experience in the field, so we are going to point out a few things one should know before starting a venture in the field.

1. Planning

There is nothing more important when starting your first shed project than knowing what, when and how to build it. Therefore, you should go to your local building department and ask a few things about your venture. You should find out if the construction requires a building permit, what materials are needed and where to place the shed.

2. Plans

There is a large variety of shed plans you could choose from when building a simple shed. On one hand, you could buy them from a site that is specialized in these type of constructions, but you should pay a significant amount of money. Alternatively, you could search on the Internet and choose the right plans for your needs. If you plans to build a simple shed, you could save money and get the job done by yourself. Use 4x4 skids to support the flooring of the shed and 2x6 lumber to build the framing.

Cut the components of the walls at the right size and lock them together with galvanized screws. Drill pilot holes trough the top and bottom plates, before inserting the screws into the studs. Make sure the corners are square, before attaching them to the floor with wood screws.

Choosing simple diy greenhouse plans is a good option, especially if you want to undertake the construction process by yourself. From our own experience, any person with basic woodworking skills can get the job done in just a few days, if all the preliminary steps are done with good judgment.

A small greenhouse will provide enough vegetables for a small family, so make sure you work with attention and great care. Although you won't be able to grow a large variety of plans on such a small surface, we still consider that it will provide a decent compromise between costs and benefits.

As you can see in the video, a greenhouse is no more than a simple structure covered with polyethylene film. Use 2x4 lumber to build the frame of the greenhouse and lock them together with 3 1/2" galvanized screws. Always pre-drill holes in the components before inserting the screws, as to prevent the wood from splitting.

After you cover the structure with thick film, you need to lock it into place with 1x2 lumber, placed over the structure. Last but not least, build a small greenhouse door out of 2x4 lumber and lock it into place with metal hinges.

How to Build a Small Greenhouse

Building a small greenhouse will not only enhance the look of your garden, but it will also ease your work when growing vegetables. As you can see in the image, you need to cut the components at the right size and lock them together with screws. Always align the components at both ends, if you want to get a professional result.

It is essential to choose a god location for your greenhouse. Therefore, make sure the greenhouse has a southern expose and it gets at least 6-8 hours on direct sunlight every single day. Work with attention and with great care, if you want to get a professional result, from the very first attempt.
